When you arrive
We understand it can be a little nerve-wracking, stepping off the plane for the first time on your own in a new continent. That’s why one of our own staff will be at the airport to greet you with a smile, show you to the house and introduce everyone. We’ll also give you a full orientation of the local area to bring you up to speed with the local transport systems, ATMs, Internet cafes and shops, and we’ll personally introduce you to your student mentor at the hospital.
Once you’re settled in, we’ll take a step back to give you some independence, but our Programme Manager and his or her team are always available should you need them.
We pride ourselves on our friendly, personal approach and our in-country teams feel more like your local family than staff. The photo shows our Tanzania Programme Manager, Mdoe (right), on the rocks above the Gap Medics house in Iringa.
Our Head Office is in daily contact with the team in each destination, allowing us to confirm your safe arrival and reassure to concerned family or friends… just in case you’re too busy having fun to call home!
