Sixth Form Easter Work Experience
Our Sixth Form focused Easter placement to Thailand is an ideal opportunity for Sixth Formers to get hospital work experience combined with an amazing travel opportunity over your Easter break.
This 2-week placement will coincide with your Easter holidays between the 1st April – 14th April 2012.
Whether your chosen speciality is medicine, nursing, midwifery or dentistry, you will be placed with a senior healthcare professional in your desired field and will spend weekdays shadowing them on a fully organised hospital placement.
The placement price of £1290 includes a fully-supervised hospital placement, clinical teaching, safe and secure accommodation in our own students house, food, airport pickup in Thailand, local orientations, 24/7 support from our teams in Thailand and the UK and lots of help with preparations for your trip.
Once in Thailand and our base in Chiang Mai, you will spend weekdays shadowing highly skilled doctors in their day-to-day work, both on wards and in the operating theatre (depending on your exact placement). The particular doctor you are assigned to each day is your mentor – he or she will speak fluent English and provide on-the-go teaching about the different cases you encounter. You will also undertake 3 clinical teaching sessions in the hospital during the week, which is your chance to learn more about healthcare and to ask questions to the doctors too.
The placements are ideal preparation for medical school and an invaluable opportunity to stand out on your applications too.
During the week you will focus on learning more about healthcare but there’s still plenty of time to explore the local area too with the help and guidance of our staff teams. In your free time you will be able to visit the local Elephant Sanctuary and the famous night markets and temples of Chiang Mai. On Friday afternoon students will get the opportunity to take a guided hike into the Thai jungle, where students also get the chance to ride an elephant and take a bamboo raft down The Mae Tang River too.
Another popular weekend activity is vising the beautiful beaches of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan which is easily arranged with the help of your programme manager too.
We recommend students arrive into Chiang Mai anytime on a Sunday and depart from Chiang Mai anytime on a Saturday. The cheapest way for students to book flights is to look to book international flights to arive into Bangkok in Thailand and then a seperate booking of internal flights to Chiang Mai. We also have a travel partner who can help you arrange flights after you have a place confirmed on the programme.
Please be aware that places are limited and our projects usually book up fast. Book Now, give us a call on 0191 2696818 or email info@gapmedics.com.
