Nursing in the Caribbean

Just like the pre-medic programme, our nursing work experience placements in St. Lucia offer access to a wide range of departments and specialities due to our strong partnership with the biggest governemnt ran hospital on the island. Those who are interested in nursing will get the opportunity to shadow nurses and experience how the demands of the discipline vary in the different departments of the hospital.

If you want to focus on a particular area, such as paediatrics or maternity care, we can usually place you in a department that specialises in your chosen field. As always, we’ll work with you during the lead up to your placement to make sure you get the experience that is right for you.

Our partner hospital is within easy travelling distance of the Gap Medics house. Our clinical teaching sessions, held three afternoons a week, are combined for pre-medical and pre-nursing students in order to give you a more complete insight into the work of the hospital team as a whole.
