Medicine experience in India

Our India programme offers a wide range of departments and specialities for medical work experience as we have strong partnerships with five different hospitals within Jodhpur. Students can gain varied experience in the areas of medicine, nursing, midwifery, dentistry and psychiatry.

Students who have specific clinical interests will have the choice of either attending one of the large multispecialty hospitals and undertaking a placement in selected departments, or alternatively attending a specialised facility such as a the dedicated orthopaedic hospital we work with. Those looking for a more general overview usually get the best experience from rotating around departments in a larger multi-speciality hospital. As always, we’ll work with you during the lead up to your placement to make sure you get the experience that is right for you.

All our partner hospitals are in and around the city of Jodhpur, with none more than a 25-minute rickshaw ride from the Gap Medics house. Many of the doctors who serve as Gap Medics student mentors are the directors of the hospitals, are highly respected within the community and proud to be part of our international education programmes. Their wealth of experience makes them ideal leaders for our bespoke clinical teaching sessions that our students attend three afternoons a week.
