Where you'll be living

On a sunny hillside to the north of St Lucia’s capital, Castries, the Gap Medics house sleeps up to 22 students in bedrooms shared between two or three.

The house is newly built by our super-friendly landlord Raphael (quite possibly the most smiley man in the world!) with high standards of security and a wonderfully sociable open-plan layout to the various communal areas. To the rear, our very own swimming pool is surrounded by a fantastic terrace area that is perfect for regular barbecues or just relaxing after work in the Caribbean sunshine!

Choosing the perfect location for our houses is always tricky, and here in St Lucia we wanted to balance proximity to the hospitals, access to great swimming beaches and escaping the big tourist resorts to better experience island community life – and this house achieves that perfectly.

For convenience, we provide a complimentary minibus shuttle between the house and hospitals every morning and afternoon. There are also public buses and taxis readily available if you want to go into town or head to the beach at other times; as always, our Programme Manager and her team are available whenever you need them to offer help and advice.
