Australian Medical School Student Special 2012
Gap Medics are offering an exciting project for Australian medical students that are in their 1st and 2nd years of study. We are running a special programme in Tanzania during the January Holidays and also programmes all year round in our other destinations. The placements are designed especially for Australian 1st and 2nd year students at medical school and are designed to introduce you to clinical medicine in a working hospital environment.
Gap Medics are the leading provider of short-term healthcare work experience placements abroad. We are based in the UK and our programmes are open to all students from around the world.
Australia Medical School Special dates:
Tanzania – 8th January 2012 – 21st Januay 2012
The placement price of £1290 ( approx $1990 ) includes a fully-supervised hospital placement, clinical teaching, safe and secure accommodation in our own students house, food, airport pickup in Tanzania, local orientations, 24/7 support from our teams in Tanzania and the UK and lots of help with preparations for your trip.
Once in country, you will spend weekdays shadowing highly skilled doctors in their day-to-day work, both on wards and in the operating theatre (depending on your exact placement). The particular doctor you are assigned to each day is your mentor – he or she will speak fluent English and provide on-the-go teaching about the different cases you encounter. You will also undertake 3 clinical teaching sessions in the hospital per week, which is your chance to learn more about healthcare and to ask questions to the doctors too.
This intensive 2-week placement is ideal preparation for your later years at medical school and an invaluable opportunity to learn more about clinical medicine.
During the week you will focus on learning more about healthcare but there’s still plenty of time to explore the local area too with the help and guidance of our staff teams and you can also help out in the local orphanage too during the week and on weekends too. No trip to Tanzania is complete without a safari and our staff teams can easily help you organise a weekend safari in Ruaha National Park. The majestic spice island of Zanzibar is also not to be missed too!
Students should arrive into Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. The Gap Medics team can assist you in booking flights and our comprehensive MyTrip service will prepare you for your placement too.
Please be aware that places are limited and our special projects usually book up fast. Book Now, give us a call on 0044 191 269 6818 or email info@gapmedics.com.
Gap Medics offers international hospital experience and medical volunteer projects for 16-25 year olds.
